FITIS was set up in 1996 with the purpose of giving a much-needed focal point for the ICT industry in Sri Lanka. Over the years it has watched the IT industry grow. However, it is at a juncture where technology must be adapted by the citizenry to ensure that Sri Lanka reaches its fullest potential. Therefore, these tax cuts would create a much-needed confidence in the industry to create more business ventures, innovate and boost entrepreneurial growth in the IT sector.
FITIS Chairman Abbas Kamrudeen stated: “We welcome the commitment towards tax relief especially in the IT industry, it was much-needed to motivate the IT sector. This would undoubtedly be a positive move to develop the IT sector.”
