Unprecedented digital adoption due to the COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating digital transformation. This in turn is increasing ransomware’s threat to information systems and business continuity. The more digitally dependent the world becomes, the more the market opportunity for ransomware warlords grows on the dark web.
The world has witnessed high profile attacks which have only been solved through massive ransom payments where enterprises of all scales are at risk. Even in Sri Lanka, several ransomware attacks at leading and vital stakeholders of the economy have been increasing.
It is with this background that FITIS aims to create awareness amongst Sri Lankan enterprises of the looming threats of ransomware. Nimbus Cloud Lanka Ltd. has joined hands with FITIS bringing high calibre domain experts to interact with the Sri Lankan ICT fraternity on this critical business subject.
Speaking ahead of the webinar, FITIS Event Partner and Nimbus Cloud Lanka Ltd. Managing Director Damith Hettihewa said, “FITIS has picked an important topic and we are pleased to partner with this timely initiative. Lately computer viruses have taken the backseat as Ransomware has come to the fore. Ransomware attacks have skyrocketed 148% during the height of COVID-19 crisis in March 2020, compared to baseline levels in February 2020, as corporations shift to remote work according to the sources of information security companies. More and more successful ransomware attacks and earnings from the same have tremendously motivated cyber criminals to innovate more sophisticated attacks.”
“While companies attempt to map out comprehensive security strategies and implement expensive and time-consuming security solutions to minimise data loss and ensure business continuity, affordable and fast implementable simple risk mitigation and data recovery options are often overlooked. In this webinar, global domain experts will share valuable insights on the trends of emerging threats, effective risk mitigation and affordable data recovery strategies with Sri Lankan CXO fraternity,” Hettihewa further said.
Speakers of the FITIS virtual conference are domain experts of international repute. Asigra Inc. Founder and Executive Vice President Eran Farajun joins from Toronto Canada, Dragon Slayer Consulting President Marc Staimer joins from Beaverton Oregon USA and Founder and Chairman of Cloud-IOT Sdn Bhd which comprises Nimbus Clouds and Metora Data Science; Kumaran Singaram, joins from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for the session moderated by former ICTA CEO and Nimbus Cloud Lanka Ltd. Managing Director Damith Hettihewa.
The event is scheduled to be held on Thursday, 12 November at 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Sri Lanka/India time. Personalised invitations will be sent directly by FITIS Secretariat. If CXO level reader is interested joining the webinar please email to [email protected] or call on 0774166410.
