At the core of Industry 4.0 lies people who will drive the inclined disruptive technologies and transformations. Question posed at CHROs is whether organisations are ready with the right talent pool and right strategy to meet business agility within a gig economy. At the steady demand from organisations to leverage on technologies in autonomous functions such as sourcing, job targeting and distribution, and predictive analytics to improve time-to-hire and quality-of-hire metrics, are organisations equipped to face ‘future of work’?
A recent survey by Gartner finds, only 9% of CHROs consented as prepared for the future of work whilst, by 2022, an impelling 50% of large enterprises will have invested in a major initiative to improve their manager experience by automating multiple work-related HCM tasks.
In a voyage to equip Sri Lanka to proactively navigate the inclining digital transformations and nurture next generation talent pool, recently the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), entered in to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka, the pioneers and most recognised professional body in the HRM/People profession in Sri Lanka.
FITIS, is the apex body of the ICT sector in the country, covering all major industry segments such as system integrators, hardware vendors, software development firms, training and education institutes, digital service companies, telco and other communication companies, office automation vendors and ICT professional bodies.
As a significant effect of this MoU, FITIS to assist development of ICT curricula for CIPM. The joint venture will also facilitate focused efforts to further the HRM and ICT industries in Sri Lanka, promote ICT and Human Resource Management for the benefit of each body and organise events for the mutual benefit of both memberships.
At the signoff ceremony, CIPM President Dhammika Fernando stated: “As the nation’s leader in People Profession the Human Resource Management we will continue our many efforts to uphold our education standards and services to our membership. Our affiliation with FITIS will assuredly benefit our professionals to spearhead the HRM commitment to serve the current and future business context and assert their future rolls as strategic business leaders.”

In the context of the digital transformation, FITIS, since our inception has been instrumental in increasing ICT literacy levels. We are delighted to associate with CIPM who recognises the need and encourages digital adoptions,” said FITIS Chairman Abbas Kamrudeen.
