A group of representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) met President Maithripala Sirisena last week at the Presidential Secretariat.
They informed the President about the proposal to hold the Regional Summit of WHO, next year in Sri Lanka. President Sirisena expressed his pleasure that Sri Lanka will be the host country for the WHO Summit.
The President recalling the assistance given by the WHO expressed his satisfaction over the advice and contribution provided by the WHO to strengthen the health sector in Sri Lanka. He said Sri Lanka expects that assistance in the future too.
President Sirisena emphasised that the Government is keeping a strong relationship with every institute affiliated to UNO. “That relationship further strengthened at the meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon recently.”
