Living up to the promise of promoting balanced nutrition, Pedia Plus has now initiated a valuable lecture series to the local medical community with the aim of sharing new knowledge for the betterment of paediatric practice.

As the first in the lecture series, Professor Pujitha Wickramasinghe (MBBS (Col), DCH (Col), MD (Pead), PhD (Col), Professor in Paediatrics University of Colombo) made a marked contribution by delivering a valuable lecture on ‘Prevention of Micro Nutrient Deficiencies in Children – The Clinician’s Role’ on 23 June 2012 at Hotel Renuka.

In his lecture he shared the latest research findings on the status of micro nutrient deficiencies among Sri Lankan children in relation to the health standards. With the aid of published scientific literature, Professor Pujitha illustrated the issues children in our country face with regard to nutrient deficiencies and elucidated some of the main symptoms.

The wide gathering of paediatricians participated for the event and they were acquainted with recommended micro nutrient supplements that children of varying age groups could be provided with. He also explained in detail the corrective actions medical authorities should take and the role clinicians must play in eliminating the above deficiencies in our younger generation.

Mothers of today are struggling to feed their fussy eating kids with nutritionally balanced home cooked meals. The increasing trend of replacing meals with fast food also doesn’t help in training them with proper eating habits. This is becoming a large issue, as lack of balanced nutrition could lead the young generation with several health complications, including poor physical growth and reduced immunity. Pedia Plus wishes to address this issue with dignity.

Pedia Plus is a premium growing up milk powder especially designed for today’s fussy children who don’t easily eat nutritious home cooked meals. It contains two unique ingredients – Lysine and Javanese Turmeric – which have numerous benefits to child’s health and development. Both these ingredients are proven to help improve the child’s appetite and immunity. Lysine is also known to increase body weight and enhance bone development. Javanese Turmeric on the other hand is the golden ingredient in Ayurvedic medicine; it is scientifically proven to be a potent anti-oxidant.

Apart from carrying these two unique ingredients, Pedia Plus carries a balanced macro nutrient profile as per the recommended allowance of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

It also has a potent collection of micro nutrients including DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), Prebiotics, Vitamins (A, B complex, C, D, E) and Minerals (Iron, Calcium & Zinc) which aid in complete development of the child. Hence it is a unique formulation to the Sri Lankan market which not only offers the benefits of a growing up milk powder, but also helps children eat better.

With best quality milk sourced directly from New Zealand, Pedia Plus is fortified for Swiss Biogenics by a large healthcare conglomerate in Indonesia called PT. Soho Industri Pharmasi. Pedia Plus is available in all supermarkets, leading pharmacies and at Health Guard outlets island-wide.
