The Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital has become a brighter and happier place for its little patients and young visitors thanks to the generosity of ODEL.
Sri Lanka’s favourite department store has donated the play area in the kids’ section at its flagship store at Alexandra Place to the country’s premier paediatric hospital for the use of visiting children.
The entire play area with its slides, chutes and toys has been dismantled and reassembled in a designated area in Ward 1 of the hospital, and is already attracting many children.
The recreated play area was officially handed over to Prof. Harendra De Silva and Dr. Daham De Silva, Consultant Paediatricians at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children by the ODEL team on 11 January.
A spokesperson for ODEL said the space that accommodated the play area at the Alexandra Place store has been added on the kids’ section. “We are sure that the children that visit ODEL will be happy to know that this play area is now benefitting children that are in the hospital or are visiting,” she said.
A household name in fashion and accessories retail that attracts unprecedented footfall, ODEL is part of the Softlogic Group, one of Sri Lanka’s fastest growing diversified conglomerates with business interests in Retail, Healthcare, Financial Services, ICT, Leisure and Automobiles.
