Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Sri Lanka’s pioneer and premier private hospital, opened its state-of-the-art facility in Negombo recently. As the first regional hospital of the Nawaloka group, this marks a significant first step in healthcare providers’ efforts to cater to the needs of its discerning clients outside the capital city.

“We have taken this step to help our patients outside Colombo. This will eliminate the need for a patient to come all the way to Colombo for their medical needs. This is also a great convenience for those who need emergency medical care as we have established a fully equipped and ultra-modern hospital at their doorstep,” said Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Director Harshith Dharmadasa.

With 75 beds the hospital’s 50 rooms offer an extensive range of amenities, on par with the most modern international standards, to suit patients’ individual requirements. The new facility features an avant-garde Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which includes dedicated medical intensive care and surgical intensive care units. Nawaloka also runs the only Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) in the area at the newly built premises, offering 24x7 care during medical emergencies. Its fleet of ambulances extend the hospital’s expert care to patients even before they get there.

In a bid to give patients and their families a clear idea of the costs involved, the hospital offers all-encompassing medical packages tailored to different medical situations. “One of the biggest problems in the healthcare sector is that the patient is unaware of the cost of treatment when they are admitted. Nawaloka has introduced medical packages to overcome this problem. With the package system, the patient will know exactly how much they have to spend at the hospital at the time they are admitted,” Dharmadasa added.

Its three operation theatres are geared to handle all types of surgical procedures including laparoscopic surgeries. Furthermore, the hospital offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment facilities including MRI, CT and ultrasound scanning, ECG, physiotherapy, and dental screening and treatment services as well as a full-fledged Dialysis Centre. With its high calibre medical specialists, trained professional staff and state-of-the-art technology, Nawaloka Hospital in Negombo seeks to offer the very best of healthcare services to the region.

“Working with our expert team of medical professionals, we are committed to offering the best and latest medical facilities and treatments from around the world right here in Sri Lanka. We look forward to extending our services to other regions of the island in the coming days,” noted Dharmadasa.
