Continuing its pioneering excellence, Nawaloka Hospital Plc has become the first in the industry to obtain the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification.
Nawaloka was also the first to receive the ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2000, 2004 and 2007.
“We are the first and only internationally ISO certified hospital in the private health care services for entire hospital services,” a spokesman for Nawaloka said.
In addition to ISO certification Nawaloka Hospital was awarded the National Quality Award for Health Care industry in the year 1998.
The spokesman said Nawaloka Hospital has established a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001: 2008 international standard. This established quality management system set forth with Nawaloka Hospitals PLC policy of providing health care systems to exceed the customer expectation and requirement.
Whilst providing health care services at competitive level which would create an acceptable profit margins for the hospital. This is accomplished through quality management system, active and continued improvements effective at all levels within the hospital.
The quality management system implemented at Nawaloka Hospital encompasses all functional areas and follows naturally and sequentially from the customer related functions through the operational to the delivery or discharge function so as to meet the specified requirements of customers.
The information and resources necessary for each activities are also determined in the quality plan. Nawaloka Hospital PLC will determine the methods to monitor measure and analyse these processes and to implement actions necessary to achieve planned results and continuous improvement of the same.
Processed data and information/shall be acquired and used on continuing basis while suitable methods such as self assessments and management review shall be used to evaluate process improvement.
“Our hospital does not use the valuable ISO 9001:2008 certification as an advertising tool. But it is a systematic approach towards prevention of failures rather than detection. Prevention saves money, reduce repetition, reduce waste and create job satisfaction. Give customer confidence on continuous quality assurance with internationally recognised independent certification and assessment,” the spokesman said.
The external audit team concluded that the organisation has established and maintained its management system in line with the requirements of the standard and demonstrated the ability of the system to systematically achieve agreed requirements for products or services within the scope and the policy and objectives. Therefore audit team recommends that based on the results of this audit and the system’s demonstrated stage of development and maturity, management system certification is granted.
Auditors had commented that the management system documentation demonstrated conformity with the requirements of the audit standard and provided sufficient structure to support implementation and maintenance of the management system.
They added that it had demonstrated effective implementation, maintenance and improvement of its management system, tracking of appropriate key performance objectives and targets and monitored progress towards their achievements.
To provide better health care services and to maintain ISO standard surveillance and continuous monitory system easing operation within the hospital, commitment and dedication of staff is also part and parcel of this exercise.
