The Ministry of Health recently held a felicitation to thank those who have rallied around and helped in the uplift of the Colombo Eye Hospital.
Janashakthi Insurance PLC, whose project whereby over 100 signage boards were installed at vantage points of the Hospital, came in for special commendation by the Ministry.
Deputy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera thanked Janashakthi for coming forward to facilitate the Hospital’s service levels with the installation of clear signage, which had undoubtedly made the hospital a more organised place.
Amaraweera also presented a special certificate of appreciation to Janashakthi for this laudable project in the presence of Director of the Colombo Eye Hospital Dr. Sisira Liyanage and other high-ranking officials from the Colombo Eye Hospital and the Ministry of Health.
Around 3,000 to 4,000 people, come to the Colombo Eye Hospital every day. The absence of proper signage has been both confusing and of great inconvenience to these people, both patients and visitors.
Apart from the main Name Board of the Hospital, the new signage directs people to counters and wards and other important locations in a very methodical and easy-to-understand manner. Both patients and visitors have reacted positively with favourable comments all round.
Director of the Colombo Eye Hospital Dr. Sisira Liyanage thanked JIPLC for coming forward to facilitate the Hospital’s service levels with the installation of clear signage. “It has facilitated easier movement within the hospital premises with patients and visitors spending far less time asking around. We are grateful to JIPLC for this very laudable gesture which undoubtedly benefits thousands of people every day.”
Nursing Officer (Health Education & Public Relations) Nadee Rajakaruna said, “Janashakthi coming forward to help us was a blessing. Visitors to the hospital wasted a lot of time in the past asking for directions. Getting around is now much easier thanks to Janashakthi.”
Janashakthi’s Head of Marketing Paddy Weerasekera said, “I’m happy to say that the importance and success of this project at the Colombo National Hospital have both inspired and spurred us to similar successful projects at the Anuradhapura teaching hospital and Point Pedro main hospital. This has, in turn, greatly benefited both the thousands of patients and visitors in those areas. Parallely we plan to venture into more such projects in the near future.”
