An international scientific conference was held from 6 to 8 April; themed ‘Celebrating excellence in research: 25 years and beyond’. This is among the many programs organised by The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kelaniya in aid of its 25th Anniversary. This conference will be one of the main celebratory events.
Browns Hospitals and Browns Pharmaceuticals have come forward as the principal sponsor of the inauguration ceremony of the 25th Anniversary International Scientific Conference, which was held at the Hilton Colombo Residencies.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kelaniya (FMUoK), is one of nine state medical schools in Sri Lanka. Established in 1991, the faculty began with the admission of 120 medical students. To date it has graduated around 21 batches of medical students. The faculty currently offers two undergraduate degree programs for internal students: MBBS and BSc (Speech and Hearing Sciences).
The FMUoK has many internationally renowned researchers who conduct collaborative research in a variety of areas related to healthcare, and the faculty has been recognised as one of the leading contributors to scientific research in Sri Lanka.
Browns is honoured to have been able to play a significant part in this prestigious event. Education in every sense is one of the fundamental factors of development. Medical education needs to espouse the goal of creating physician-healers. A nation can never have too many professionals in the medical and healthcare industry.
Consisting of a high profile medical team of highly qualified and recognised visiting consultants, in-house doctors and nurses, Browns Hospital is the first in a chain of secondary care general hospitals and diagnostic centres which are dedicated to provide high quality care through comprehensive, integrated clinical practice and personalised care, to every patient.
Browns Pharmaceutical division began with the marketing of the Vetzyme pet animal vitamin range and has gradually expanded over the years to offer a wide range of veterinary to human pharmaceutical products.
