Dr. Amodini Rajakaruna performing her first dental consultation at Browns Dental Care
Browns Hospital Ragama launched its state-of-the-art Dental Care Unit yesterday. This newest addition to their services portfolio aims at offering a holistic patient experience and care.
The unit will provide the latest contemporary technology and expertise in oral treatment to address the growing dental health and cosmetic demand in the country. According to the data available, a significant number of the general population suffer from tooth decays, cavities and periodontal diseases. Most often these go unnoticed and untreated due to the lack of awareness and limited access to advanced treatments available. Browns Dental Care aims to resolve this gap through its service offerings.
In order to spearhead this newest venture, Browns Hospitals CEO Dr. Thiyagaraja Iraivan sought the partnership of the highly skilled Dr. Amodini Rajakaruna, a Dental Surgeon possessing in-depth experience in the field of Periodontology at the Department of Periodontology in Tokyo and in addition holds a PhD in the said field.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to be trusted with establishing a Dental Care Unit. It definitely is challenging as we have to build the unit from scratch. The experience, skills and knowledge I have gained over the years will no doubt play a critical role in executing a comprehensive unit. With the assistance and guidance of Browns Hospitals, I aim to build this unit to be on par with the high quality standards of Japan that I am accustomed to and familiar with,” said Dr. Rajakaruna, Dental Surgeon, Medical Centre University of Kelaniya.
“Dental health plays a critical role in the overall health of the human anatomy. I wish to increase awareness on the various aspects through this initiative,” further stated Dr. Rajakaruna.
The doctors at the unit will be available for consultation from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will be staffed with trained and qualified, assistants and nurses ensuring every patient receives specialised care and treatment.
Under the expert supervision of Dr. Rajakaruna, the Browns Dental Care Unit will be facilitated with all standard dental services, extractions, fillings and repairs, root canals, crowns, bridges and implants, dental x-rays, orthodontic treatments, oral surgeries, treatment of oral cancer, etc. Services will also include proper screening systems of patients, patient education/advice, treatment plans, and knowledge sharing on preventive measures, problem solving and expert consultations; an all-inclusive patient centric Dental Care Unit.
“Browns Dental Care, is the first of its kind in the Gampaha district and not every medical institution offers a one stop service for all dental needs. In time, we hope to establish Browns Dental Care centres in various strategic locations and this is just one of the many specialised units we at Browns Hospitals aspire to establish,” stated Dr. Iraivan.
“Browns Hospital, a venture of Brown & Company PLC, is the first in a chain of secondary care general hospitals and diagnostic centres. Browns, in its investment in healthcare, has made its mark in the industry with providing affordable, quality and innovative healthcare to every Sri Lankan through comprehensive integrated clinical practice, state of the art facilities, including modern CT and MRI scanning, and advanced medical and surgical therapeutic technology. Also providing personalised care while aiming to continuously enhance the value proposition to its stakeholders through innovative and patient centric solutions,” added Dr. Iraivan.
