Enrolling in the SLIIT Higher Diploma in Nursing, three year programme leading to BSc (Hons) Nursing (International) degree offers a professionally-accredited internationally recognised qualification where students complete supervised clinical practice within hospital settings as well as outside hospital environments. The SLIIT Higher Diploma in Nursing, three-year program leading to the BSc (Hons) Nursing program is under the accreditation process of obtaining NVQ level 6 with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC), Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training, Sri Lanka.
Clinical experience and placements for the above mentioned program are offered at the Ragama Browns Hospitals Ltd. Through a Memorandum of Understanding between the School of Nursing, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, SLIIT and Browns Healthcare Ltd., students work alongside experienced nurses and are supervised by mentors. Students also have the added support of clinical liaison lecturers and academic – linked staff during their undergraduate sessions. Further discussions are ongoing on with several government and non-governmental hospitals for the advancement of clinical exposure to the students.
BSc (Hons) Nursing (International) program which spans 16 months is designed to serve as a higher learning opportunity for students who have either completed the diploma in nursing or already practicing nurses who wish to obtain internationally acclaimed training with modules covering additional theory as well as practical knowledge.
