Rotary Sri Lanka supported the Government of Sri Lanka with IT data entry in selected vaccination centres in Colombo and Gampaha areas for the over 60 age group which was a unique partnership.
The uniqueness is that way back in April last year Rotary launched a structured ‘awareness campaign’ on the new normal behaviour required initially with seven athletes recommended by National Olympic Committee (NOC) and thereafter via Interactors reached almost 23% of the households with a sports ambassadorial campaign with almost 280 South Asian and Commonwealth Medallion.
The learning globally is that ‘behaviour modulation’ is key to stopping the sorest, said Rotary Sri Lanka and Maldives Youth Affairs Head Dr. Rohantha Athukorala who is the Project Director for Stop the Spread project which involves over 15,000 people across the country. “Even after the vaccination program the communication program holds ground in a country,” he said.
“On a separate project the idea of the ‘COVID-19 control environment certification’ Rotary partnered Sri Lanka Standard Institute that is driving the project across the country. My sincere thanks to the strong leadership of SLSI with the Chairman Nushad Perera who is personally driving the project with the Director General/CEO Dr. Siddhika Senarate,” said Rotary in a communique.
