Lanka Hospitals, the leading and multi award winning healthcare provider in Sri Lanka, has now expanded its service range in shoulder surgeries with the introduction of keyhole shoulder surgeries at its Orthopedic Centre.

These keyhole camera shoulder surgeries are a specialised form of surgery known as arthroscopic shoulder surgeries. They have been designed to treat patients with long-term shoulder pain and difficulty in movement, recurrent shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff tendon tears of the shoulder joint and sports and other injuries of the shoulder.

Furthermore, those who have severe arthritis of the shoulder joint as well as those with complicated shoulder fractures can now be relieved of their symptoms with a partial or total shoulder joint replacement at Lanka Hospitals.

Lanka Hospitals Group CEO Dr. Prasad Medawatte stated, “Lanka Hospitals continually strives to improve its services and to stay on par with advances in medicine. We consider it a privilege to offer shoulder surgeries of this specialised nature to those who need it. We have the best orthopaedic surgeons who are highly specialised and trained in the area of keyhole shoulder surgeries and we are proud to be able to offer their services.”

Visiting Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Lanka Hospitals Dr. Parakrama Dharmaratne who has been extensively trained in keyhole shoulder surgeries and shoulder replacement surgeries overseas stated: “Keyhole shoulder surgeries have a much better outcome with shorter hospital stay, less post-operative pain, faster recovery time, better cosmesis and overall better patient satisfaction compared to open shoulder surgeries.”

The orthopaedic centre at Lanka Hospitals comprises a skilled team of orthopaedic surgeons, doctors, nurses, theatre technicians and other staff along with an orthopaedic ward and a specialised fully equipped orthopaedic theatre to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care.

The centre provides 24 hour trauma care as well as manages a very high rate of emergency and elective surgeries with successful results. Their fully fledged physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre provides a speedy recovery for patients following these orthopaedic surgeries.

All other support services including x-ray, ultra-sound scan, CT scan, MRI scan and interventional radiology are available along with round the clock consultation services.

Lanka Hospitals is the first hospital in Sri Lanka to be awarded some of the most prestigious accreditations in the world for its healthcare service standards. The hospital has retained the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation since 2014 and currently holds the world-respected Medical Tourism Certification from the Medical Travel Quality Alliance (MTQUA) for the hospital’s healthcare services.
