The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) is the apex body for the apparel industry which employs over 350,000 people across the footprint of the country. The JAAF membership covers apparel manufacturers, fabric and accessory manufacturers, buying offices and representatives of international brands and the Free Trade Zone Manufacturers Association.
As part of the JAAF’s CSR activities, the association made a contribution of medical equipment to the value of Rs. 35 million to the Sri Lanka Army towards the setting up of a state-of-the-art PCR testing laboratory at the Army Hospital in Narahenpita.
The donation of equipment included a high throughput automated DNA RNA Extractor and Purification System which has a robotic arm for the dispensing of fluids thereby increasing both the productivity and the integrity of the testing being done. A range of other equipment was also supplied in coordination with the Sri Lanka Army Hospital. The equipment is now all installed and operational at the new PCR laboratory of the Army Hospital. A formal handover was made to the Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva by a delegation from the JAAF.
