Digital Content Ltd. recently handed over an ambulance following its full restoration to the Homagama Base Hospital. The restoration of the ambulance was funded by Digital Content Ltd. and facilitated by the Sri Lankan Podujana Engineers Front.
The official handover of the ambulance took place at the Pepiliyana sports ground in Nugegoda.
The ambulance belonging to the hospital had fallen into disrepair and was out of service prior to its recent restoration. The addition of the ambulance is now expected to assist the hospital to enhance its patient care at this critical juncture where the country is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanking Digital Content Ltd. and the Sri Lanka Podujana Engineers Front for their efforts, Homagama Hospital Director Dr. Janith Hettiarachchi said currently a large number of COVID-19 patients are being treated at the hospital. “Accordingly, improving transportation of patients has become a necessity,” he said, adding that the hospital was in acute need of ambulances. “It is at a time like this that an ambulance long unused by the hospital has been fully restored with all necessary facilities and has been handed over to the hospital,” he said.
Expressing his views on the restoration project, Digital Content Ltd. Director and Co-Founder Arjun Jeger said, “As an organisation it’s always been one of our core values to give back what we earn and learn. In this endeavour of restoring this ambulance we feel immensely blessed and empowered to be able to give a critical and resourceful asset to the society at this time of need. It is hard earned money well-spent and is a satisfaction to everyone at Digital Content to see this project come into fruition that will benefit the society at large.”
The Sri Lanka Podujana Engineers Front carried out the restoration work of the ambulance. According to Sri Lankan Podujana Engineers Front (Colombo District East) President and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Assistant National Organiser Engineer Kushan Devinda, the organisation had identified the need of an ambulance for the hospital upon making inquiries. “We then facilitated this restoration and conveyed the need to Digital Content Ltd. which then fully funded the project,” he said.
The event was attended by Digital Content Ltd. Directors and Co-Founders Arjun Jeger and Chamila Prasad Karunarathne, Digital Content Ltd. Head of Content Sajeewa De Silva, Sri Lankan Podujana Engineers Front (Colombo District East) President and Sri Lanka People’s Front Assistant National Organiser Engineer Kushan Devinda, Sri Lankan Podujana Engineers Front (Colombo District East) Vice President Engineer D.P.M. Chandana, Homagama Base Hospital Director Dr. Janith Hettiarachchi and several other members of the respective organisations.
