Newly elected committee of the Young Professionals Organisation of the United National Party
The Young Professionals Organisation (YPO), affiliated to the United National Party elected new office bearers and committee members at its Annual General Meeting chaired by its President Harshana Rajakaruna MP, in Colombo recently.
The YPO is amongst the UNP’s most active affiliates promoting the positive engagement of young professionals in the country’s national issues, politics and governance. It played a significant role in the national elections in mobilising the young professionals to establish good governance in Sri Lanka.
The new committee consists of: Harshana Rajakaruna (President), Nishan Fernandopulle (Vice President), Nuwan Nanayakkara(Vice President), Azam Bakeer Markar (General Secretary), Dinuk De S. Wijeratne (Treasurer), Ridmi Beneragama (Asst. Secretary), Dinal Edirisinghe (Asst. Treasurer), Sudeep Perera, Ahshan Ali, Sachintha Premaratne, Rosharn Amarasinghe, Kamal Medawewa, Jayamal Gunaratne, Sangeeth Wasantha, Peshala Karunaratne, Charuni Ranaweera and Nalaka Umagiliya.
YPO President Harshana Rajakaruna MP said, “The young professionals have a significant role to play in constructively engaging with various stakeholders to strengthen the establishment of good governance in the country.” He thanked the outgoing committee for its commitment to implement a range of initiatives during challenging times. Outgoing General Secretary Sanjeewa Wijegoonawardena and outgoing Treasurer Mahesh Yogarajan presented respective reports for the concluded term. The AGM was attended by a large gathering of young professionals, mainly from Colombo and Gampaha districts.
