The purpose of the event was to educate and provide guidance to interns on setting objectives and what they should look for in terms of such programs, and the importance of aligning these with their long-term career goals. The event concluded with some team-building activities and refreshments, in keeping with the company’s ‘fun and open’ culture.
WSO2’s internship program offers equal opportunity to any intern in terms of all aspects expected of a software engineer; interns are treated as full-time employees and have the option to become involved in real-world tasks ranging from developing products, conducting technical discussions, writing white papers and articles. They also gain exposure by working with and alongside experts in enterprise technology, and can leverage ongoing, in-house technical and soft skills programs to further enhance their experience.
“We believe that everyone has a great idea and our objective is to provide an environment for all our employees, including interns, to nurture and translate these into cutting-edge enterprise solutions,” said Sanjiva Weerawarana, Founder, Chairman and CEO of WSO2.
Samisa Abeysinghe, Vice President-Engineering, noted: “The experience provided to all interns in terms of live, hands-on experience, as well as technical and soft-skills training is truly rewarding and sets the standards required of a software engineer.”
WSO2 also has a unique, open culture that’s built around the mantra of working hard and playing harder.
All of the offices are equipped with televisions, a basketball court, and indoor activities and games, such as table tennis and carrom, for employees to unwind during breaks.
