The world believes that ethical management is a key for a thriving organisation. It is also known that core competencies and ethical management are two interwoven concepts that cannot be taken in isolation and they develop the organisation and expand the profit margins of the business.
One has to identify and implement individual ethics, organisational ethics and social ethics to fulfil the needs and vision of the respective organisation. In turn, ethics have to be interlinked with the core competencies of the organisation to get the real benefits of its operations. Academics have named this concept ‘Strategic Ethics’.
Lt. Col. Chanadana Weerakoon conducted a workshop on ‘Ethical Management’ at the Galadari Hotel in order to persuade participants to follow ethical behaviour in multiplying the profits and good image of the organisation.
During the one-day workshop on 29 April 2013, he covered the following contents extensively: Individual ethics, organisational ethics, social ethics, combination of ethics with core competencies; formulating and implementing company ethics and persuasive exercises.
Weerakoon has tremendous experience in conducting leadership and management workshops to different segments in the country and abroad. He also has exposure in the field and has written books and many articles pertaining to the area in local and overseas journals and newspapers. He is actively involved in facilitating both public and in-house training programs on the subject.
This particular syllabus is specially designed for the culture and behaviour of the Asian region and content has been altered and organised especially to suit the Sri Lankan context. This area is becoming very important because Western investors are very keen on staff and as well as organisations which follow accepted international ethical rules when they select individual staff or corporations with a business interest.
