The Employer of Choice survey is an annual survey conducted amongst a student base comprising of undergraduates from both local universities and private institutions, from all streams including management, science and engineering faculties. This result shows that Unilever Sri Lanka continues to be the ‘Top of mind’ company amongst the many undergraduates in Sri Lanka.
The main drivers for undergraduates to choose their employer are the total package of salary offered, amount of learning on the job, position/designation in the company, degree of flexibility in terms of working hours, and the job content. Being close to heart with a familiar set of brands, using ethical means to conduct business, and its offerings of a sound total salary package, renowned management trainee program, effective on-the-job training strong career and personal growth prospects are some of the many reasons why the undergraduates have rated Unilever Sri Lanka as the No.1 employer.
Speaking on this achievement, Unilever Sri Lanka’s Chairperson Shazia Syed says, “Unilever is well known for its commitment and efforts towards building future leaders in Sri Lanka and around the world. We have several signature programs which are geared to help us identify and attract the brightest talents in the market, and we use our globally deployed people management processes to nurture and develop these young minds into becoming leaders who are able to bring about transformational change to our company, our country, and our world.”
Unilever Sri Lanka has developed several unique channels to attract the best talent in the nation, including its new and innovative Unilever Student Ambassador Program – SPARKS, which created a lot of excitement amongst undergraduate students, by inviting them to become ambassadors for Unilever within their campuses. The Unilever Future Leaders Program, the Unilever Leaders Internship program, the Unilever Challenge – Lipton Talent Hunt, and the International Summer Program also act as the main channels of entry to Unilever.
Being recognised as the No. 1 employer in the country is another testament to the place that Unilever occupies in the hearts of Sri Lankan consumers, and gives the company the confidence to continue on its journey of continuous improvement of its status as the most preferred employer in the nation.
