Unilever Sri Lanka partnered with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for the 2012 CIMA Global Business Challenge.
The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business competition which is designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of the future. The competition is based on a CIMA exam case study and a fictitious business scenario. Teams compete within their region for the chance to compete for the global champion title.
This is the first time that Unilever Sri Lanka has partnered with CIMA on a global competition of this scale. Unilever Sri Lanka’s National Finance Director, Thalib Caffoor acted as a judge at the competition, while Human Resources Director Udayan Dutt was a speaker on the second day of the Global Business Challenge.
“This partnership with CIMA gives Unilever Sri Lanka the opportunity to contribute to developing corporate leaders for the future. The different stages of assessment in this program help students develop key skills needed to succeed in the business world. Unilever is always committed to supporting initiatives that enhance employability in the future leaders of the corporate world,” said Dutt,
After three stages of competition, the team from University of Exeter from the United Kingdom emerged as the winning team, beating out 22 teams of global finalists. Meanwhile, the teams from University of New South Wales, Australia, and Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, were the first and second runners up respectively.
