SriLankan Airlines’ adds the district of Anuradhapura to its national recruitment program to create employment opportunities for promising young rural youth, to embark on rewarding careers as Cabin Crew of the national carrier.
With the completion of the Government’s successful ‘Deyata Kirula’ program, the airline’s Human Resources team held preliminary interviews of hundreds of youth who have responded with eagerness, to take advantage of this opportunity.
After a critical interview process, the selected candidates will commence an intensive Cabin Crew Training Program and a Personality Development Course followed by a series of tests, to become entitled to a much sought after Cabin Crew career. The airline has invested significantly in this program in order to give all the necessary skills and confidence that the job demands.
SriLankan has already conducted recruitment drives in the districts of Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Badulla, Kalutara and Kandy with much success in attracting very promising, service-oriented youth to serve the national carrier.
“ Our objective is to continue our search for rural talent and give equal opportunities to the youth in all parts of Sri Lanka “ said the airline’s Chairman, Nishantha Wickremasinghe. “ The airline has major plans for expansion which will create many openings for the youth in the future” the Chairman added.
Hundreds of cabin crew, now employed by SriLankan and several other airlines, have had the opportunity to be trained at SriLankan’s reputed Training Centre for over 30 years, but this is the first time in history that the airline has aggressively reached out to the most remote parts of the country, to recruit its Cabin Crew.
“SriLankan is pro-active in finding its employees who will serve the airline with pride, confidence, loyalty and progress to higher levels, as the airline grows” said the Head of Human Resources, Pradeepa Kekulawala. “The airline prides itself in having the most number of long-serving staff compared to any organisation in the country”, he added.
The airline had a major presence in Deyata Kirula 2012 with a full contingent of staff manning its large booth, to enlighten visitors on the role of the national carrier, as well as its services to its network of 60 destinations in 33 countries.
The selected cabin crew candidates will be trained by an experienced group of trainers and external experts in safety procedures; customer service; communication; grooming andetiquette; and airline industry orientation and would undergo a series of tests to identify skills, confidence and personality strengths, before qualifying to fly as cabin crew.
