Sri Lankan conferred global leadership award

It is a fact that the world is in the midst one of the most uncertain economic climates seen since the Great Depression. Environmental challenges threaten sustainability for millions that calls for organisations and countries to do new things to stay relevant in today’s business world, according to Global Education Congress’s Donovan Neale-May and Executive Director of BPI Global.

He went on to say that a different set of values and norms are becoming the order of the day in the workplace that is questioning financial integrity and business ethics that is creating conflicts and a severe issues for succession planning.

In this background the World Education Congress, CMO Asia with CMO Council as its strategic partner and stars of the industry group as a research partner selects the Individuals and Institutions who have surpassed several levels of its excellence and set an example of being a role model and exemplary leadership in Public Sector policy, Driving business results, Innovation, Academic and Industry Interface and the ‘Exemplary Leadership Award 2012’ has been conferred on Sri Lankan business professional Rohantha Athukorala for his outstanding service in the private, public and the international public sector.

Athukorala works for the United Nations as the Head of National Portfolio Development – Sri Lanka and Maldives for their Office For Project Servives(UNOPS) also serves on many a Private and public sector boards of directors on cutting edge business and policy that is shaping the new growth agenda of Sri Lanka.

Commenting on the award Athukorala said, “It’s a win for Sri Lanka than me personally, as Sri Lanka is giving leadership to the world on how new ways of doing business and leading institutions is required to stay relevant at times of economic uncertainty. Athukoarala is an Alumnus of Harvard University Boston, PIM-University of Sri Jayewardenepura and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).

He was the Head Prefect and Gold Award winner at St. Peters College where he received his primary and secondary education.
