The first batch of students who completed the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) offered by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in the Maldives, through the SLIM Accredited Study Centre, Focus Education Centre received their certificates at a ceremony held in Male recently. SLIM created history in 2013, under the guidance of Immediate Past President Tilan Wijeyesekera by taking a fully indigenous Sri Lankan marketing qualification overseas and the popularity of this program is an endorsement of the international relevance of SLIM educational products. The certification ceremony was the culmination of this bold endeavour and is an important landmark in the history in Sri Lankan education. Commenting on the completion of the first year SLIM President Gamika De Silva said: “The success of PCM in the Maldives is very encouraging and we are now confident of our ability to expand SLIM services to foreign countries, while solidifying our presence in Sri Lanka.” SLIM Vice President Dhanesh R. Jayathilaka said: “The success of this program is a matter of immense pride for SLIM and bodes well for the establishment of our full product portfolio in the Maldives.” SLIM CEO/Executive Director Sanath Senanayake stated: “This is testament to the international standard service quality of SLIM educational products and we will continue to maintain these standards both in Sri Lanka and in the Maldives in future.” PCM was conducted in the Maldives through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Focus Education Centre, an established education provider in the Maldives. It was an initiative that was aimed at improving the Maldivian business community’s knowledge on marketing and allied fields while earning valuable foreign exchange for Sri Lanka.
