To coincide with the relocation, SDC organized a special 4 day Advance Credit Risk Analysis workshop under the able tutelage of a renowned trainer from India.

Seylan Bank Skills Development Centre has been in operations since 1990 and committed itself to build on the trusses of professionalism, knowledge, skills, motivation, commitment and team work which has assisted the Seylan team to excel and emerge triumphant in the industry.

SDC provides a constant stream of well devised internal and external training opportunities in order to upgrade the knowledge and skill levels across the bank. Such training is permeated to all staff in the bank with a minimum number of compulsory training hours each year. The Centre possesses a well qualified internal / external resource faculty and conduct training programs at Regional level for the benefit of the staff in the branches.

Keeping in line with the newly implemented Strategic Plan, in the year 2012 SDC will concentrate more prominently on building competencies under 4 broad areas. All technical and soft skill development programs as well as Mentoring and Coaching programs which are currently underway are linked to these 4 areas thereby aligning the entire training function to the business goals of the bank.

An Assessment Centre program is scheduled to be conducted in July/August 2012 with the support of a reputed overseas professional agency that will lead the organization’s succession planning program. ‘Potential Branch Manager’ and the ‘Future Leader’ programs too are being planned by the Centre for hi- flyers.

With these new initiatives SDC will continue to nurture the Seylan team with professional inputs that will develop and prepare them to face challenges of the future.
