The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) conducted its newest international management program jointly with the University of Sydney, Australia. It revolved around Strategic Management and was held from 28 February to 8 March.
The participants, while learning about the conceptual aspects of Strategic Management in the lecture room sessions at the Business School, were also brought into contact with public and private sector management experts in Australia.
The participants had the opportunity to visit the Barangaroo Development Authority where they were exposed to the role of the organisation in managing the city waterfront development at Barangaroo, and the process of delivering world-class benchmarks in urban design, the public domain and sustainability, and how they address issues of public relations and environmental issues in the light of major developments in the heart of Sydney.
Furthermore, they visited the NSW Government Transport Management Centre where they witnessed how the organisation managed traffic during morning and afternoon peak travel times, major events and unplanned incidents, and how it monitors and coordinates Sydney’s public transport operations across trains, buses ferries and light rail. The program was coordinated by PIM Management Consultant Dilhan Goonetilleke.
