The Staff Development Centre of the University of Kelaniya was recognised for the high quality standards it implements when conducting the Staff Development Programme for Probationary Lecturers by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) at a simple function held at the university premises.
It was granted the highly recognised ISO 9001-2015 and SLS ISO 9001-2015 by the SLSI with the scope being ‘to design, develop and conduct the Staff Development Programme for Probationary Lecturers of universities and higher educational institutions’.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya Prof. Sunanda Madduma Bandara, Director General/CEO of the SLSI T.G.G. Dhramawardana, the Director of the SDC Prof. Dilkushi Wettewe, distinguished guests and staff members of the SDC. The SDC of the University of Kelaniya is the first and only SDC in a university to receive international certification from the SLSI.
In 2014, the SDC received ISO 9001-2008 accreditation from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) in Sri Lanka, marking a milestone in the history of staff training at a tertiary level.
The certificate was awarded in recognition of the Staff Development Center’s commitment to implement international quality standards when conducting the Staff Development Programme, a compulsory training program for all probationary staff members in universities and HEIs. This certification reflects the centre’s objectives and aspirations to offer the best staff training program for newly recruited staff members at Sri Lankan higher educational institutions according to national and international standards.
The SDC strives to become the center of excellence for enhancing knowledge, skills and attitudes of the stakeholders of the Sri Lankan higher education sector by providing professional development opportunities and resources to meet the evolving needs of Sri Lankan higher educational institutions.
