Conducts Ample Path Inspiration program for third consecutive year
Reiterating its commitment as a socially responsible corporate citizen, Sampath Bank partnered with the Global Community Development Program of AISEC in the University of Sri Jayewardanepura to conduct the Ample Path Inspiration (API) program for the third consecutive year. Initiated in 2012, API has been one of the biggest projects organised by the Global Community Development Program with the aim of empowering the youth of Sri Lanka to be better leaders of tomorrow.
Commenting on this significant partnership, DGM – Marketing & Business Development of Sampath Bank Tharaka Ranwala said: “We at Sampath Bank truly believe in education being necessary to bridge the social and economic gap in the nation. We believe in giving back to the community and contributing to the progress of the nation and its development. Thus, we are proud to once again collaborate with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in monitoring and guiding youth empowerment across the island as the youth is the future of our nation.”
The API project is a based on a series of events, learning sessions and workshops on topics related to youth empowerment, the development of leadership skills and enhancing the knowledge of global culture among the youth of Sri Lanka. This invaluable program is steered with the support of a team of 10-15 undergraduates from countries like Brazil, Russia, Germany, India, Pakistan, China and many more who share their knowledge, experience and cultural backgrounds to broaden the horizons of the youth of Sri Lanka.
API revolves around two significant events – The Leadership Campaign Program conducted in schools of all nine provinces of the island with sessions on leadership development and the Global Village Program hosted by foreign undergraduates who share and showcase their cultural backgrounds with the youth of Sri Lanka whilst celebrating diversity and global citizenship. Additionally, events such as Cultural Shows, Beach Cleanups and Spend the day at Meth Mihira Children’s Home contributed to developing skills, morals and attitudes that would prepare the youth to be independent and successful leaders in the future.
Sampath Bank has not only played a stable and significant role by providing financial assistance to the API Program, but also in sharing valuable knowledge from their very own leaders and providing guidance in order to contribute to the life changing experiences of the youth of the nation.
Being a committed partner of the API program, Sampath Bank has aided AISEC in achieving over 30 successful leadership sessions for more than 50 different schools while influencing the lives of over 4,000 schoolchildren. This achievement and initiative is yet another strong depiction of Sampath Bank’s commitment and constant efforts in reaching out to the youth of Sri Lanka and keeping to its promise of being a responsible corporate citizen.
