One of Sri Lanka’s top businesswomen, past Rotary district governor Gowri Rajan, was selected by Rotary Global to represent the Rotary International President at the Taiwan District 3460 annual conference staged in Taipei.
The Taiwan Rotary Club is one of the largest entities in the Asian region with 5,325 members and 104 clubs. It made a contribution of over 20 million Taiwan dollars during the 2015/16 period.
Rotary Global President K. Ravindran said: “We always have a belief in Rotary that we must foster the leaders for the next wave of leadership and I am glad that senior Rotarians and respected community leaders like Gowri have been selected to represent me in Taiwan.”
The key message by Rajan to the Rotary community of Taiwan was, “Organisations like Rotary connect the world and we must use every opportunity to serve humanity and the less fortunate with our collective efforts.”
The Rotary Global theme for the 2015/16 period was ‘Be the gift to the world’.
