CIMA recognised Ronnie Peiris, Group Finance Director and Executive Director on the Board of John Keells Holding PLC (JKH), as CIMA Business Icon 2014.
A surprised Ronnie said: “I am extremely delighted to have been recognised, every human being wants to be recognised and I am very humbled by this award. Thank you very much CIMA for recognising me.”
CIMA Business Icon is part of the CIMA Leadership Awards, recognising CIMA members whose business leadership has demonstrated significant achievements in financial success, whilst simultaneously giving back to the society and generating knowledge to advance their respective industries.
Ronnie has over 40 years of finance and general management experience at senior management levels, in Sri Lanka, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, (FCMA), UK, a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA), Scotland, a Fellow Member of the Society of Certified Management Accountants (FSCMA), Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants, (FZICA), Zambia.
Ronnie, who was a past President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors, is a member of the Main Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on its Economic, Fiscal and Policy Planning Sub Committee.
The award was presented by the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Myriam Madden (CIMA President), Charles Tilley (Chief Executive, CIMA) and Vipula Gunatilleka (Chairman, CIMA Sri Lanka Board) at the grand jubilee dinner to mark CIMA’s 50th anniversary in Sri Lanka.
