A hero’s story from Sri Lanka is featured in the latest issue of the prestigious Reader’s Digest, the world’s largest selling magazine with a circulation of 37 million copies.

The story in the December 2010 issue describes how a 14 year old boy from St. Anthony’s College, in Baddegama, Galle in June 2007 saved the lives of 200 students by warning them of an impending landslide, which eventually damaged eight classrooms. The quick action of Wasana Sanjeewa is described in detail in the Reader’s Digest article titled “A lesson well learned,” and highlights that he was awarded a gold medal by the Foundation for Civilian Bravery. The organisation recognises people who risk their lives to save others.
