The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (http://qeprize.org/) which is worth £1million, is a new global engineering prize that will reward and celebrate an individual or team of up to three of any nationality, responsible for a ground-breaking innovation in engineering that has been of global benefit to humanity.
The prize aims to celebrate the best and “serve to illuminate the sheer excitement of modern engineering.”
Nominations for the Queen Elizabeth Prize will close on 14 September; it will be presented by the Queen in Spring 2013. The Prize is funded by an endowment and will be awarded biennially.
The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering is managed by the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Foundation (QE Prize Foundation), a charitable trust. The QE Prize Foundation ensures that the prize objectives can be realised and free from external intervention or influence. The day-to-day running of the prize is handled by the Royal Academy of Engineering (http://www.raeng.org.uk/default.htm).
The British High Commission in Colombo encourages people, universities and companies in Sri Lanka and Maldives to make nominations for suitable entries.
