Professional Edge Consulting, a Canadian company based in Ottawa headed by Sri Lankans Praveeni Perera and Priyangani Perera together with Lousie Jackson on Wednesday launched their new programs for the year 2012/2013 for the Sri Lankan business community.

A corporate training and image consulting company, Professional Edge Consulting commenced their entry in to the global platform by launching a two day conference titled ‘Manners in Management’ in March in Colombo this year. Based on the success of the program and the response by the business community, the company introduced four new programs to be carried out within the next two months.

Priyangani Perera speaking at the launch stated that among the four programs are a conflict resolution workshop, executive etiquette program, self management and personal effectiveness program as well as a web learning course in business writing and French as a second language.

Titled ‘Let’s talk it out,’ the conflict resolution workshop is scheduled to be held on 27 June at the Cinnamon Lakeside. “This is generally developed for managers. It is a comprehensive workshop which will include case studies, role plays and self assessments,” she said. The program examines conflict resolution from the point of view of managers supervising a team of subordinates and deals with advanced theoretical concepts and practical strategic measures.

In July, the executive etiquette program will be conducted with key focus on dining and more comprehensive look at business programs. Also to be held at the Lakeside, this will be a one day course to offer professionals an in depth examination of social international protocol through seamless integration of business and dining etiquette. A four course meal and refreshments are offered at the workshop.

Also to be held in July is the self management and personal effectiveness program where participants will learn that self management is an on-going process where they learn to maximize their time and talents to achieve goals that are worthwhile and are based on a sound value system.

“We will talk about the five building blocks to success and how to priorities tasks and guard against productivity killers,” Perera said.

Speaking on their web learning courses, she noted that the online business writing course is part of their new web learning series. An eight week long course broken down into four modules, the course is an effective one.

“This as well as the other online course French as a second language is offered online and those interested can register online through our website www.proedgeconsulting.ca. The modules can be downloaded from the site and students can complete the course in their own time.”

She noted that the next step for the company is to take the workshops out of Colombo for the benefit of business professionals working outstation. The long term goal of the company is to expand their programs to other South Asian destinations, she said.
