The Annual Conference of Toastmasters District 82 – Ovation 2017 has been given a major impetus with one of the country’s most respected real estate giants – Prime Group, coming on board as the Strategic Partner. Ovation 2017, which is scheduled to be held from 25 to 28 May at Waters Edge, Battaramulla is the most looked forward to event in the district’s calendar which is expected to attract over 800 Toastmasters including over 200 Toastmasters from India.
The year 2017 will be a momentous year for District 82 as Former District Governor of District 82 and illustrious Toastmaster, DTM Arunasalam Balraj being elected as the President of Toastmasters International, reaching the helm of the Toastmasters International Leadership. Ovation 2017 will be a prelude to this celebration. The conference will be graced by the incumbent International President of Toastmasters, DTM Mike Storkey, which will also have a lineup of educational sessions as well as the district level speech contests. One of the highlights will be the session by the World Champion of Public Speaking, Dananjaya Hettiarachchi. Ovation will also be a networking opportunity for the members of the Toastmasters fraternity to engage, enrich their knowledge and enjoy the wonderful camaraderie.

Toastmasters International (TMI) is the world leader in communication and leadership development with a membership of over 345,000 consisting of 15,900 clubs in 142 countries that make up our global network of meeting locations. The Toastmasters movement in Sri Lanka, which commenced its journey in 1984 with one club, has grown to become one of the largest movements which have made significant strides locally and internationally. Today, Toastmasters District 82 comprises of 204 Toastmasters Clubs spread across Tamil Nadu, India and Sri Lanka with a membership in excess of 6,500 members.
