Dr. Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, Director, PIM, delivering the
welcome address
The Postgraduate Institute of Management recently launched its newest program, MBA in Taxation (MBA-T) with a collaborative arrangement with the Department of Inland Revenue.
Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga, Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Secretary to the Treasury was the chief guest at the inauguration of the MBAT. Kalyani Dahanayake, Commissioner General of the Inland Revenue Department was the guest of honour.
Dr. Samaratunga expressed his satisfaction over the decision taken by the Inland Revenue Department to enhance the skills and competencies of the officials of the Inland Revenue Department through the MBA-T program. Dahanayake spelt out the aim of launching this programme, and said that the time has come to enhance the managerial capabilities of the officials of the Inland Revenue Department.
Dr. Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, Director, PIM, expressed thanks for the cooperation extended by the Commissioner General and the staff of the Inland Revenue Department for making this venture a reality, and expressed his wish that this would be a truly transformational experience for the participants, both in their professional and personal fronts.
Dr. Travis Perera, Senior Consultant, and Member of the Board of Management, PIM, explained the key areas of study of the newly designed MBA-T, and its modules, including the credit requirements for the successful completion of the course. Jayantha Newunhella, Coordinator, Specialised Projects, PIM, proposed the vote of thanks.
