The PIM Alumni (PIMA), the Professionals Association of the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) affiliated to the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, recently concluded the official installation of the new PIMA Board of Directors for the year 2016/2017, during a grand ceremony held at the Grand Oriental Hotel recently.

The Chief Guest of the above exclusive event was Postgraduate Institute of Management Director Professor Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, who is also the Patron of the PIM Alumni. Some of the Past Presidents and several senior PIM Alumni were present at the occasion. 

The PIM Alumni is the association of professionals who have completed Masters and Doctoral degree programs at the Postgraduate Institute of Management. PIM Alumni, the Professionals Association of PIM is the largest Postgraduate Alumni in the country, with over 2000 active members who hold MBA, MPA and PhD from PIM and holding Senior Positions in both private and public sector organisations. 

The main objective of PIMA is to represent the prestigious PIM as its foremost service organisation in playing a pivotal role in organising public forums in discussing various relevant topics related to Management, Education, Industry, Finance, Economics, Social Development, etc., for the benefit of the PIMA members and the general public.

Besides the above, PIMA is instrumental in conducting the ever popular ‘Developing Managers for the Future’ program for budding executives/managers and a ground breaking newly introduced ‘Senior Management Development’ program, specifically designed for the experienced senior managers and entrepreneurs to enhance their management and operational excellence. Furthermore, PIMA continues to conduct ‘Continuing Professional Development’ programs with the participation of prominent and renowned local/foreign university scholars and successful entrepreneurs.

Apart from the above activities, PIMA was instrumental in initiating the PIMA Business Club (PBC) with the specific objective of creating an effective dialog and network among the industries, investors and business enterprises harnessing business relationships among the top corporate institutions. The PIMA Dinner dance and the PIMA Cricket Fiesta for the PIMA Challenge cup are some of the entertaining annual events conducted by PIMA for the entertainment and social networking for the PIM Alumni annual basis. 

The flagship event of PIMA is the PIMA Olympics Management awards. This annual event emerged from the renowned PIMA Platinum Awards. PIMA Olympics recognises the significant and outstanding contributions given by the PIM Alumni and non Alumni in enterprise management/entrepreneurship as well as significant contributions to the socio economic development of the country. 

The specific highlight of the occasion was the election of new PIMA Board of Directors to serve during the year 2016/2017.
