The National Chamber of Commerce is always in the forefront and makes a special effort towards enhancing the productivity and economy of the country. In this backdrop the National Chamber of Commerce is inviting key stakeholders for an open discussion/forum on the subject of ‘Night Work for Women and 5 Day Working Week on Friday 26 June from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium, 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mw, Colombo 10.
Due to the current labour law restrictions placed on night work for women, many female employees keep away from night work, thus reducing productivity in industries and also holding back investors from setting up of business ventures in Sri Lanka, especially in the IT, BPO and KPO industries.
The speakers will be the Employers Federation of Ceylon (EFC) Director General Kanishka Weerasinghe, MAS Holdings HR Director Shakthi Ranathunga and Excelsoft Chief Operating Officer and SLASSCOM Director Hariharan Padmanaban, who will air their views and share their experiences. Additionally, the Commissioner of Labour is expected to participate as a special guest at the forum.
