Singer Sri Lanka Senior Area Manager Manjula Silva was adjudged the Best Executive of the Year at the company’s Annual Management Conference held recently. He was awarded the coveted Hemaka Amarasuriya Challenge Trophy amidst great fanfare at the conference.
The Best Executive of the Year is awarded annually at Singer to an executive below the level of director for an excellent track record of performance. The award reiterates Singer Sri Lanka’s commitment to a people-centric culture. The company was ranked among the top 25 Best Companies to Work for in Sri Lanka for the third consecutive year in 2016 by the Great Place to Work Institute in a study that evaluated over 75 companies representing 15 industries.
Manjula, this year’s Best Executive at Singer Sri Lanka, joined the company 17 years ago as a clerk in the Inventory Control Department. His upward mobility path took him from the position of Trainee District Manager in 2005 to Senior Area Manager in 2014.
Manjula is currently reading for his MBA from Cardiff Metro University, UK and holds a Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. A product of Sri Sumangala, Panadura, Manjula was a member of the Under 19 National Cricket Pool and was the Captain of the school’s cricket team and also the Deputy Head Prefect.
