LOLC Group and Seylan Bank PLC recently entered in to two MOUs with the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo, joining its newly launched University of Colombo Partnership Program.
The University Partner Programme is an initiative of the Alumni to work closely with leading private and public sector organisations in order to provide opportunity for enhanced corporate sector involvement and support in the activities of the University of Colombo.
It is envisaged that the Partnership Programme will provide further impetus to the Association to carry out its Student Development and Welfare activities including Mentoring, Communication and Leadership Programmes, Career Guidance, Inspirational Talks, Health Programs and also member engagement and social activities.
Under this partnership, the partner organisations would play a role beyond traditional financial commitments and will nominate personnel who would be part of the Mentoring, Career Guidance and Soft skills development programs, thereby providing opportunity for corporates to directly be involved with the University of Colombo.
Rajeev Amarasuriya President of Colombo Alumni said that this was a very important initiative as through this partnership three vital stakeholders being the University, the Alumni and the Corporate Sector join hands and he further said that the potential for benefit from these relationships were immense. He went on to state that there were several other leading corporates who are lined up to join this scheme and stated that the Alumni Association was very selective in choosing its partners to ensure that they would bring in genuine value.
Gamika De Silva Chief Manager Marketing of Seylan Bank said “We are pleased to partner the Colombo University Alumni association. We believe this partnership will mutually benefit both entities as our objectives of enhancing professionalism among the society takes prime importance in the agenda. We also believe that Seylan bank will be able to add value to the initiatives launched by the Colombo University Alumni Association, through our innovative services and solutions.”
Speaking at this occasion Pradeep Uluwaduge Chief Human Resources Officer of LOLC said “LOLC being a corporate giant who firmly believes in its close rapport with the national university system, was indeed happy to take part in this partnership which is mutually beneficial. We are dedicated to building a learning culture within our group of companies and our close association with the University of Colombo, made it an avenue for us to go out of our domain and reach our university population too”
