JASTECA offers 24 Scholarships in Japan on Corporate Management

Japan Sri Lanka Technical Cultural Association (JASTECA) in association with their parent organisation, the Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA) is offering a part funded Scholarship on Corporate Management to Japan for Sri Lankan professionals. The scholarship program titled the ‘Program for Corporate Management for Sri Lanka’ (LKCM) is suited for senior managers, executives and owners of SMEs.  A total of 24 participants will be selected for the program from Sri Lanka and its duration will be from 9 – 22 October 2013. Applications should be forwarded to the JASTECA office, No: 04, 22nd Lane, Colombo 03 before the closing date 23 July. HIDA, Japan is an organisation that works to elevate the standards of professionalism and business management in developing countries by promoting Technical Corporation through training. HIDA, established in 1959, with the support of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as the first technical corporation organisation on a private basis in Japan, aims to foster friendly relations and contribute to the economic growth of developing nations by conducting these programs. To date the total number of participants who have received training in Japan exceeds 160,000 from 170 countries. HIDA, formerly known as the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan works in collaboration with JASTECA in awarding scholarships to Sri Lankan professionals. Many Sri Lankan organisations and professionals attached to them have benefited immensely from the LKCM program conducted throughout the years. Throughout its existence, which dates back to over two decades of devoted service to the nation, JASTECA has helped to develop well-rounded professionals in various disciplines of management, especially the Japanese style management techniques, which has made the organisation extremely popular among most established corporates, government institutions and SMEs.  JASTECA has facilitated the transfer of Japanese Technology to local industries and has helped to train over 3500 Sri Lankans in Japan on a multitude of management disciplines. The objectives of the LKCM program are to deepen the understanding of participants about skills and techniques of management adopted by Japanese companies in key functions such as Marketing, Financial Management, Production Management and Human Resource Management. Further, the program aims to educate participants on how to develop corporate philosophies and strategies to attain their management goals. Contents of the program is structured so that initially, the participants will be taught about management philosophy and strategy employed by Japanese companies. In the next stage, the students will gain in knowledge through practical situations, case studies, company visits and a three-day study tour about different aspects management employed by Japanese companies in areas such as Marketing Strategy, Financial and Production Management and HRD. Finally, based on what they have learned from lectures, discussions and observations, participants will be asked to draw up an action plan to address the current problems in their respective organisations and on how they could improve their management skills. They will be asked to and make a presentation based on their learning and observations on the final day. Participants will be able to learn under the supervision of highly reputed lecturers in a great environment that will be provided by HIDA, which assures that they will be groomed on management techniques that are characteristic of highly successful Japanese companies.
