Janashakthi Insurance PLC, a leading Insurance provider in Sri Lanka, announced its partnership with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka as the Strategic Partner for the recently concluded CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit for the second consecutive year. The event, held on 23-24 August, is a prominent stage for compelling and informative discussions with the theme for this year being ‘Joining the Dots’.
The CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit has proven to be a calendar highlight amongst corporates in Sri Lanka, providing enhanced clarity to the intellectuals gathered at the forum. This year’s topics comprised areas such as Integrated Thinking, Value Creation, Disruptive Innovation and Managing the Value of Human Capital.
The event commenced with the inauguration ceremony on 23 August, at which Malik Samarawickrama, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade addressed the audience, followed by the keynote address made by Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka. A stellar lineup of preeminent speakers and panelists from diverse industries shared insights on key subject areas through the course of the two day event.
“It is with great pleasure that we partnered the CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit for the second consecutive year as its Strategic Partner, reiterating our commitment towards an initiative that collaborates some of the best minds in the corporate and accounting sectors across the world. We have been closely associated with CIMA even in the past, having sponsored the Janashakthi – CIMA Pinnacle Awards for a period of five years. The partnership has grown from strength to strength and it is with great pleasure that we pledged our commitment to the summit once again, confirming our support to CIMA to carry out endeavours of this calibre and scale in Sri Lanka,” said Jude Fernando, Chief Executive Officer of Janashakthi Insurance PLC.
“The Janashakthi Insurance Board of Directors, Corporate Management and staff members have maintained a very close relationship with CIMA over the years, having worked with us on various projects. We were delighted to welcome them on board for our flagship event for the first time last year. Janashakthi has a vision of social responsibility, a core value of which is ‘Lighting up lives’; in this context we see a correlation to their association with the CIMA Business Leaders’ Summit and an able partner, as the program is all about intellectual connect and deliberating where participants from the corporates go out and shed light in their organisations on the futuristic requirements and practices which definitely contribute to the country’s growth. Having a strategic partner in the stature and standing of Janashakthi is undoubtedly an honour and a great boost to the Business Leaders’ Summit and we are most grateful to them for having partnered us for the second successive year,” said Radley Stephen, Country Head, CIMA Sri Lanka.
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), founded in 1919, is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants, with over 229,000 members and students operating in 176 countries, working at the heart of business. CIMA members and students work in industry, commerce, the public sector and not-for-profit organisations. CIMA works closely with employers and sponsors leading-edge research, constantly updating its qualification, professional experience requirements and continuing professional development to ensure it remains the employers’ choice when recruiting financially-trained business leaders.
Janashakthi Insurance PLC, founded in 1994, made its mark in the industry as an innovator and household name over a span of two decades. The organisation maintains a clear vision of Social Responsibility which reflects the core values of the organisation and is based on the concept of ‘lighting up the lives’ of Sri Lankans.
As a result, Janashakthi has embarked on many noteworthy initiatives over the years which include the recently conducted ‘Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards’, rolled out in partnership with the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka to recognise civilians who voluntarily risk their lives while saving, or attempting to save others from peril.
Today, the company stands strong as a leader in Motor, Non-Motor and Life Insurance services, and with its recent acquisition of AIA General Insurance Lanka Limited, continues resolutely on its vision of lighting the lamp of Insurance in every home and work place.
