The Awards Ceremony of ILM was held at the BMICH on 1 December. 

ILM is a leading institute in Sri Lanka producing world class manufacturing and technical professionals. Nearly 7,000 professionals followed ILM public seminars, workshops and in-house training related to Lean Management and it has also produced over 500 TPM practitioners, 50 Advanced 5s Instructors and 250 Lean Practitioners since 2009. 

From the year 2009 to date more than 175 leading corporate organisations, public and semi government institutions and NGOs have placed the trust with ILM to train and develop HRM resources. 

ILM CEO, Founder President of Association of TPM Practitioners and TPM Guru of Sri Lanka Thilak Pushpakumara welcomed the audience. Akihiro Ito – Hirayama Corporation Japan was the Chief Guest and Yukio Honda graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Miyuky Honda – Global Business Development Manager Hirayama Corporation Japan participated as a special invitee for the awards ceremony.  

The awards recipients have to go through a standardised and closely supervised examination and evaluation procedure. Students are evaluated through written examinations, presentations, team assignments, practical work at real factories and final thesis submission. Regular attendance for classes is compulsory. Students who undertake TPM certification attend eight days of classes and those who take the Lean Practitioner Green Belt certification path, need to attend for seven days and Advance 5S instructors should attend a three-day workshop. Students who are absent for more than one day, are not allowed to take the final examination until they attend the missed class with the next batch.

The curriculum of ILM programs and the training and evaluation methodology were developed by Thilak Pushpakumara, CEO and the founder of ILM, former General Manager Loadstar Ltd. and former Plant Manager Unilever Sri Lanka. Teaching faculty of ILM comprises of local professionals and Japanese experts, having hands on experience, academic qualifications, multinational exposure and working experience with the world’s leading consultancy firms, certified auditors, trainers and instructors.

TPM Practitioners from the public program representing 25th, 26th from Yukio Ando and 27th batch received the awards from Miyky Honda. 

Certificates for the Advance 5S and Lean Practitioner Green belt, were given away by Akihito Ito. 

Best Student Award – TPM 25th Batch – M.M. Thevinda Prasath, Best Student Award – TPM 26th Batch – Nallanathan Theepan, Best Student 27th Batch – Thilina Srimal Balasinghe, who top the batch from TPM batches, received their Best Student award from Akihiro Ito.

Institute of Lean Management are also into consultancy service for both local and foreign multinational organisations.

Entrenching in the island in the year of 2009, the Institute of Lean Management (ILM) bolsters the industrial sector by enhancing business processes and development of human resources in order to encounter local and global competition on operational excellence, outlay and consignment.
