The selection process for the Human Resources Management (HRM) Awards 2012 is now underway and the selectors held a program to brief participants on the selection process on Monday.
AON Hewitt, the world’s largest HR consulting company, will be doing the initial screening to shortlist one third of respondents on whom reports will be compiled to be reviewed by an external jury who will determine how the awards are split.
The Gold awards are being sponsored by HNB, the Platinum by Demo and the Bronze by CIC, said Chairman for the HRM awards Asitha Jayasekera, at the briefing. Segmental awards will also be made in addition to recognising best practices in governmental organisations.
The questionnaire will examine human resource management processes and how they get translated by line managers in businesses. The selection process includes a questionnaire for Chief Executive Officers and interviews and focus group discussions for managers. Interviews will be scheduled with individual companies and a 90 page questionnaire disseminated to shortlist one third of respondents who are “close together in terms of practices,” AON Hewitt Associate Srirang Srikantha said, briefing candidates on procedures to be adopted. HR audits will be conducted before candidates are shortlisted in the first week of June. A process to ensure responses and practices are closely aligned will see the organisers spend half a day at each organisation meeting two to three people responsible for HR practices before 10-15 employees are interviewed to see their experiences in using HR processes.
The HR practices inventory spans planning, education and selection, on boarding and orientation and HR selection will be studied from the point of view of business necessity, roles, fit and hiring based on competencies, technical testing and talent supply, the organisers said.
