Over 2,000 graduates and final year undergraduates thronged to the Rajarata University on Thursday (10 September) to take part in the Careerlead career and entrepreneurship fair, which was organised by the Young Members Forum of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
The two-day event, which was conducted in collaboration with the career guidance unit of the Rajarata University commenced Thursday morning with 45 companies taking part as potential recruiters. Those firms represented sectors such as ICT, tourism, healthcare, agriculture and manufacturing.
From the moment the career fair kicked off, graduates and undergraduates from universities such as Peradeniya, Wayamba, Rajarata, Eastern and Jaffna got registered to be interviewed by the respective recruiters. Apart from the graduates and undergraduates, students from various technical colleges also took part in the hunt for jobs.
Huge numbers also came in to take part in various career and entrepreneurship guidance programs, which was conducted simultaneously at the Rajarata University premises.
Friday was the second and the final day of the event, which was backed by ILO, South Asia Gateway Terminal, Peoples Bank, NDB, Dialog, Rexona, Sunshine Health Care, Hayleys, CIC and Royal Holidays.
