In order to align training investments of companies to business results, GISM Campus Professional Development Centre (PDC) together with “Nihil Admirari” one of the leading training and advising centers in the Netherlands is pioneering a series of programs for the business and the corporate sector in Sri Lanka.
“It has been identified that yearly billions of dollars are spent by companies worldwide on training and development of their employees.
To remain competitive in today’s global business world organisations must have a highly skilled, adaptive and motivated workforce and of course a return for the investment made in training” said Head, GISM PDC Business and Corporate Sector (BCS) Linton Fernando.
He further explained that many companies do training as an activity and yet to have an appreciable impact on the organisational performance.
Current research indicates that, on the average only 10 to 20 per cent of transfers of training indicating changed and enhanced performances of employees then.
Training is often ineffective, unnecessary and expensive. Considering this gap, GISM PDC invited a renowned training and consulting adviser Founder of “Nihil Admirari” of the Netherlands Miriam J. Firjns, to conduct a series of interactive workshop and seminars aiming at the top management in the public and the private sectors, training institutions, HR managers etc.
The first workshop on ROI on Training will be held on 31 October at Hotel Continental form 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. followed by mocktails.
Nobody can predict beforehand how the outcome of the training will lead to an improvement of the business performance. Part of this problem is related to the isolated Training Need Analysis (TNA) that is done in most of the cases. During this program Frijns will discuss why training should be seen as a possible solution to a business problem and not as an activity.
The second seminar will be held on the 1 November at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) adutorium to discuss the subject Training for Impact. Training for impact attempts to analyse all aspects of the organsiation that could influence the organisational performance and requirements of training.
Frijns has done training and consultancy work for companies and organisations such as Xerox, Smallpeice Enterprises Limited (UK), Mercedes-Benz, ITC, IMTA, MSM, Indigo Europe, Webster University, ExxonMobil, and Alcatel Bel, Stork BV, Rockwoll-Grodan, LDS-US, OMV, and has trained multicultural workforces in countries such as Vietnam, Cuba, Ghana, Egypt, India, China and Dubai.

GISM PDC - BCS conducts workshops/seminars to discuss these untouched areas in the business and corporate sector, company focused HRD programs, certificate courses leading to diplomas and study programs for professional examinations.
