 He is currently working at the Commercial Bank of Qatar as a Senior Manager in Risk Management. Prior to his current position, he worked as the Director (College of Banking and Finance) at the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), Unit Head – Project Finance and Loan Syndication at Oman International Bank in Oman, Doha Bank in Qatar, RDC and Union Bank of Colombo.
He is a dual charter holder for Banking (Chartered Banker) and for Marketing (Chartered Marketer) from the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and Chartered Institute of Marketing in England respectively. His diversified qualifications include two MBAs from reputed leading universities in the UK, an MBA (Finance) from the University of Leicester, UK with Distinction and MBA (Chartered Banker) from the University of Bangor, UK with Merit. In 2004, he was recognised as the ‘Best Student’ for the Diploma in Marketing (DipM) by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM).
 
 
During his career as a banker, he obtained the AIB (SL) qualification from the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) and successfully completed the Diploma in Credit Management at IBSL. Subsequently, the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AATSL) offered him Life Membership (MAAT).
Currently, he holds Membership in professional bodies such as Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK), Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM-UK), Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), Association of Accounting Technicians Sri Lanka (AATSL), Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), Sri Lanka Economic Association (SLEA), and Association of Professional Bankers (APB).
He is the eldest son of Dias Kaluarachchi who retired from the CGR as the Chief Shroff and of the late Daya Ranaweera who served as the Deputy Principal of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara at her retirement.
