First female Public Trustee

Attorney Tharangani Keenawinna Dissanayake has been appointed Public Trustee following a Cabinet decision. She is the first woman to

head the Public Trustee’s Department since its establishment in 1922.

A brilliant past pupil of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo, Attorney Dissanayake is the mother of two children. She took her oaths in 1983 and worked as a junior lawyer under President’s Counsels J.W. Subasinghe and Queens Counsel H.W. Jayewardene until 1991. Thereafter she was a Supreme Court and Appeal Court lawyer before being appointed Deputy Public Trustee in 2008.  

Attorney Dissanayake is due to assume duties as the new Public Trustee on 13 May.
