Finance Department wins Cinnamon Grand Quiz Competition

Cinnamon Grand held its annual ‘Grand Quiz’ for staff on the 20th of June 2012. The quiz was based on general knowledge, world leaders, environment and world sports.  The aim of the quiz was to gauge and enhance the knowledge of the associates’ on the hotel’s products and services, local and world events, history, whilst building team spirit- the Grand way! Anton Hallock was the Quiz Master for the event, and his witty comments and questions put many an audience members and representing the teams on the spot. A total of nine teams representing Front Office, Food & Beverage, Finance, Banquets, Kitchen, Sales, Housekeeping, Engineering and Angsana participated in the three hour event.

The winners of the Grand Quiz was the Finance Team comprising of Yehiya Arshad, K G Piyaratne, Fazal Cader, Channa Wijethilake who walked away  with the coveted Grand Trophy, whilst the second and third places were taken by The Sales and Marketing  an and Food & Beverages teams.  The Sales team members consist of Thilanka Muthukumarana, Asanka Fernando, Shehan Wanigaseka, and Brad Taylor while the F&B team was led by Dilshan Perera, Sean Paul, Senaka Thushara and Priyanjith Paanabokke. Winners were gifted with four dinners for two vouchers, Keells vouchers and beverages.

 One of the interactive features of this competition was the audience quiz which enabled ‘supporters’ a chance to help  the teams through a ‘call a friend’ tool and even win prizes for themselves by responding to the questions of the Quiz Master.

The fun but educational event was organized by the hotel’s dynamic Training Department together with the Human Resources team.
