All arrangements have been made to hold the final round of the competition to select the prospective youth leaders, and the presentation of awards to the winners.
This competition was organised by the NIBM in keeping with the spirit and aspirations of the Year of Youth as declared by U.N. and was sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development. The venue for the final round of the competition and the awards is the auditorium of Bishop’s College, Colombo and the event is to be held at 3 p.m on Wednesday, 10 August.
The occasion will be graced by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dallas Alahapperuma, the Deputy Minister Duminda Dissanayake and a host of other distinguished guests.
A large number of youth from all over the island participated in this competition and utmost care and discretion was used in selecting the candidates for the final round. Ten Youth Leaders are to be selected in the final round on the basis of their skills and competence required for youth leadership based on 10 spheres pertaining to youth activities.
These awards symbolise the pride and the honour of our youth and have been rightly called “EYLA” which stand for “Emerging Young Leader Award 2011”.
On the instructions of Minister Dallas Alahapperuma this event will be held annually to enhance the prospects of Sri Lankan youth.
