Following the success of its recent job fair in Vavuniya, the Employers Federation of Ceylon and its Disability Network on Wednesday held an award ceremony and job fair for100 differently abled people to celebrate and reward their achievements.
The event was held in association with the the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations and the International Labour Organisations
Certificates of Completion in ITC to disabled trainees who have successfully completed 5 modules of IT training were presented.
Following the Award Ceremony, a job fair was conducted where100 persons with disabilities were invited to attend job interviews with employers from both the private and public sector.
Having had great success in securing jobs for disabled people through its previous events, most recently in Vavuniya, the EFC called on its corporate members especially those who are part of their Disability Network, to provide support and input on employing people with disabilities.
The network was established by the EFC in 2000 and corporate members like Cargills, Singer, Standard Chartered and People’s Bank bring 11 years’ experience on how to take disabled people out of the marginalisesd sectors of society and integrate them into the mainstream workforce.
